    This Ranger i is wiring version II ( includes keyer/bias sub panel and PTT).

    Rebuild Complete
    * Overhaul/rebuild started
    * Unit disassembled to chassis,
    * Rebuild started
    * Chassis thoroughly cleaned, top and bottom,scrubbed, water washed, air dry Chassis top does exhibit minor pitting which is not removable.
    * Tube sockets replaced ( RF tube sockets not yet replaced)
    * Burned, missing and broken interconnect wiring replaced ( a LOT of burned wiring).
    * We always find mis-wiring, cold or non-soldered connections ( this unit was no exception)
    * Tube heater circuit completed for microphone and modulator circuit
    * Mode switch AC line switch function checked and contacts cleaned
    * All terminal strips replaced
    * Mil grade 6-32 nut plates installed on rear chassis lip
    * VFO Overhauled and tested.
    * Ball drive disassembled, cleaned and modified for installation of snubber assembly
    * VFO insulated coupler rebuilt
    * All set screws replaced with 6-32 allen screws
    * VFO band switch repaired ( it was frozen in one position: lack of lubrication)
    * Buffer and PA tuning shaft support brackets de-rusted
    * New rubber grommets installed in appropriate positions.
    * Front panel for this unit shown, it needed only a slight bit of Maroon touch up.
    * Underchassis wiring mostly completed. Rats nest wiring reconfigured
    * Keyer/Bias sub panel installed ( not yet wired in)
    * PTT module installed ( not yet wired in)
    * Modulation and HV Choke installed

    * Replaced wafer A of SW-4 ( mode switch): burned contacts
    NOTE: We completely rebuilt Wafer A, new contacts, new ceramic wafer, repaired interconnect wiring.Mode Switch wafer A was incorrectly wired and as a result the line switching contacts were melted.
    * Replaced two burned wiper contacts on SW4A
    * Installed front panel, vfo bezel, vfo tuning mechanism, ball drive snubber. Tested and adjusted ball drive overtravel torque.
    * RF Power and Modulation tests. Set Mod idle IP.
    * Unit tested with shop microphone.
    * CW mode tested
    * Clamp current checked
    * NOTE: This unit has a 6146B installed. No stability issues observed.
    * Cabinet photo: Cabinet badly needs a repaint.

    We have had customers who purchased these units and did not read the operational notes about PTT and could not understand why the unit would not tune up or transmit.
