Vintage Jr. Birdmen of America pilots’ wings.  Nice gold washed wings with red, white, and blue enameled work.  This pin is maker marked on the reverse LAMBERT BROTHERS NEW YORK, is a pin back, and has the early open C style catch.  Wing measures approximately 1-3/8 inches wide by 7/16 inches high.
The Junior Birdmen of America was a national organization for boys and girls interested in aviation and model plane building, founded (ca. 1934) and promoted by the Hearst newspaper chain, with the cooperation of the U.S. Bureau of Air Commerce. Many of these Junior Birdmen went on to become pilots in WW2.
