Description
Offering a WWII NOS (New Old Stock) Ruptured Duck Honorable Discharge Lapel Button with heavy gilt brass. In Mint Original “Unworn”Condition.The Honorable Service Lapel button, was awarded to USA service members who were discharged under honorable conditions during WWII. The image on the button was commonly referred to as “Rupture Duck”
It was designed by sculpture Anthony de Francisco. Given out between Sept. 1939 - Dec.1946. Made of gilt brass.
The button depicts an Eagle inside a wreath, served as proof to military police that the wearer was not absent without leave.
The Ruptured Duck symbol allowed the wearer to use his military uniform for up to thirty days after discharge. Many WWII veterans wore their buttons on their lapel for years after the war.
