    Description

WWII pin with red, white, and blue sections, and gold letters, wheel with wings, caduceus. The pin is for the WOMENS DEFENSE CORPS. The upper left section has ARP, which apparently was for Air Defense Precautions, which was later replaced with CD, Civil Defense. The winged wheel was possibly for a motor corps, most likely a driver. The pin is gold gilded or gold plated over sterling. The sterling marking is clearly readable on the reverse side, below the actually pin bar. The pin mechanism is intact, nice and tight, and in good working order, including the locking part of the closure. The scroll at the bottom of the pin has the Latin
"PARATUS ET FIDELIS", which translates to "Ready (or Prepared) and Faithful". The gold has some scattered little speckles that seem to show the silver beneath it.
